Unbreakable Kimmy+Doc Who

Standard

Today is a TV show review day!

I mainly watch tv shows.

I haven’t always but right now there are honestly way better tv shows airing rather than movies. Especially when it comes to Netflix. Their tv shows are exquisite.

UNBREAKABLE KIMMY SCHMIDT:

The way Netflix advertised for this show was so freaking annoying it made me not want to watch it… The freaking pop up every time you scrolled near the top of your “dashboard” page.

There was also the girl from later seasons of The Office (one of my all time favorite tv shows). The red headed receptionist who replaced beloved Pam. I automatically hated her.

But as I kept seeing gifs and memes on Tumblr from the show it looked pretty funny.

The first few episodes where a little annoying… But once I broke out of the pre judgments the humor was actually very witty and I would say almost brilliant.

The show outlines the life of a “mole woman” after she was rescued from a apocalyptic cult for most of her life. A comedy based around making fun of society’s stereotypes. (Tina Fey is one of the main writers for this show and even makes an appearance).

DOCTOR WHO:

Season 8… Netflix sure took it’s damn time.

Matt Smith is fantastic in every way shape or form. He is the Doctor (in my opinion). I can not stand any other doctor’s companion… That’s mainly why he is my favorite… Until CLARA!

I’m sorry am I the only one who loathes her? It seems like the Doc franchise seems to think the opposite. She is the most fake, stupid, boring “companion” type character I have ever witnessed in a show… ever.

I was not excited for her to continue on through the series. I know season 8 has been out for awhile so it’s a little late to cover it but honestly I couldn’t work up the tolerance to watch two seconds with anything with her face in it.

I hear they are killing her off soon which excites me.

Pete Capaldi though… Playing Sid’s dad in my favorite all time shows Skins UK. Seeing him as an alien time traveler now… Doesn’t match. Oh well. At least he hates Clara.

I don’t know I feel like they are running out of ideas or something. Opening with a dinosaur attacking London and then Clara is the only one who knows what the hell is happening?!

What has this world come to???!!!!

Clara… Just no

Ted 2- Lost River – The Sisterhood of Night

Standard

TED 2:

Stupid comedies are pretty much useless most the time but I always have been a fan of Ted.

Knowing how sequels usually suck, I knew a sequel to a big budget comedy movie was probably going to be horrific. But I bought tickets anyways.

It was actually fantastic! Who knew a movie about a hormonal bear who does drugs could be so entertaining. But the thing I liked about it was the message of the sequel. Through jokes a bear fights the government to gain rights as human. Shining light on rights issues we face today.

Ted 2

Lost River:

A moviie written and dircted by Ryan Gosling. Starring some fantastic actors including Matt Smith. I thought well what the hell sounds interesting.

I can not watch a movie or tv show without consulting with IMDB first. Rated a 6/10 my hopes dropped. But I proceeded anyways.

End result basically it is a movie where nothing really happens. Movies like these are more about the visuals and the underlying meaning rather than any plot what so ever. Yes the movie was beautiful. But there has to be more than that.

Literally nothing was explained, you are forced to make up the story while watching weird sex torture.

Eh I don’t know I don’t think I will ever watch it again but I apperciate the artistic try.

Lost River

The Sisterhhood of the Night:

Another random weird ass movie on Netflix. It featured a few decent actresses I knew so again I thought who cares!?

Turns out it was a movie about a few high school girls who start a sex cult…

Interesting towards the middle. Drops out at the end… Movies should not build an idea the whole freaking movie and the be like… Just Kidding!!!!

Then what was the point of me spending two hours of my life watching a cheesy joke!!

SS of Night

Overall…

stick to tv shows for awhile.

SCROTAL RECALL – One of my new favorite shows…

Standard

When hearing the name of this tv show one might think I was recommending a porno… But fear not this show is a laid back British comedy on Netflix!

Netflix original shows are actually fantastic *Cough OITNB Cough*

This show is about a guy who finds out he has an STI and decides to contact every partner he’s been with the past few years.

Each episode is about one of the partners. (Making it only one season)

Now they could have made this show super dirty and gross but instead it is a silly almost heart warming journey through his innocent partners.

It is mostly a backstory to the last episode which sounds cheesy but is actually kind of original.

This series is short but refreshing…

Violet and Daisy

Standard

I am trying to post something every day so here it goes…
Today I will be posting a movie review… Or complaint would be the better word.
Today I watched “Violet and Daisy”
It stars one of my favorite female actresses: Saoirse Ronan
It is about two teenage girl assassins which always sounds awesome!
I thought it was going to be about kick ass girls kicking more ass but I was sadly disappointed.
Apparently that would have been to great so they had to water it down with a sob story.
I mean I guess if you the kind of movie where it is graphic without being to graphic and also make you feel like you’re watching an action movie then this would be the one for you.
The story line could have been awesome and it almost was but there was just something missing. I don’t know maybe I am being over critical but it didn’t leave me wanting more.
I’m glad it was only an hour and a half.
I will let you decide on your own but I will help by leaving you the IMDB link and the trailer link…

One Star

Standard

I decided that today I would watch random movies on Netflix; most of them looked light hearted and stupid… but potentially interesting. Netflix determined that I would give them one star I still proceeded to watch.
As I have already figured out Netflix is always right… The one question I have to ask is how do these movies even obtain a budget?
I did see one movie today that was very enjoyable… Frank… It was weird and very meaningful if you decode the message. My favorite movie genre is indie so keep that in mind when taking that recommendation. (It was rated 5 stars)
The next two movies were: Expelled and Behaving Badly… Both movies started out with a tall brown haired teenage boy talking at the camera. It was both cheesy and obnoxious.
Both movies took place in a make believe high school and both had disgusting humor.
Sometimes movies that get mostly bad reviews can be entertaining but these were both horrifying. It makes me question the intellect of this generation.
The movie Behaving Badly stars Selena Gomez a disney star. I just hope that the children searching for their favorite star on the internet don’t stumble upon that movie.

Time for the 80’s

Standard

You know that feeling when you are so in love with a show and never want it to end. Well… Unfortunately “That 70’s Show” has come to an end. Yeah I know it ended on television a few years ago. But I have been Netflix binge watching this amazing show for months on end. And it has come to a tragic end. Watching the final episode is like cutting a limb off. Well more than taking an appendix out because you know you don’t need it but you still want it…
Terrible metaphor…
But you get the point.
It is a classic, comedic, masterpiece. But so cheesy and so bad but so good. Like cheese wiz. Anyways…
At least I am not left on a cliff hanger right now like with some shows (COUGH COUGH Orange is the New Black) but rather have concluded a long journey.
Even though I was disappointed with Eric coming back and the whole Jackie and Fez ordeal. But beggars can’t be choosy.
Now it is time to obsess over another mindless show.
Farewell That 70s Show. You will be missed greatly! (Well maybe not Donna’s blonde hair… Or Eric…)
