Beware here comes a long review post… But hey we are covering some kick ass movies.
Lets talk about Interstellar. First off the director is Christopher Nolan so I had high hopes. Seeing that the run time was three hours I knew this was going to require lots of snacks and a warm sweater. The movie starts out with the plot we are familiar with in the trailers. It is exactly as I am expecting it to be… when bam we are hit with the first twist and I am impressed and excited! Where is Cooper going, why, what is happening?!?!?! Along with the visuals which are spectacular and not over done. Usually space movies with big name actors *COUGH COUGH GRAVITY* over do it with the CGI and it throws the whole movie off. Lets get this out of the way now… I absolutely can not stand Gravity!!!!! It got rave reviews because yes the special effects are flipping amazing but that can’t be the entire movie. The rest of the movie was shit!!!! AHHHH! Anyways… For Interstellar they built the all the sets so that the actors could actually feel like they were in space. Long story short this movie kept me entertained the entire time. It kept me laughing and crying and wanting more. It was nothing as I had suspected and I proclaim it one of the best movies of the year.
After that long review I will give a short opinion on Horrible bosses 2. Ok the first one is perfect, I hate raunchy comedy movies but Horrible Bosses has a sort of class to it and makes me crack up. It is hard to find a comedy movie where the comedy actually makes me laugh so hard I cry (We’re the Millers). Horrible Bosses 2 was not a disappointment I laughed the entire time. Good sequels are hard to come by especially for comedy movies. I recommend going to see some of the best comedians in this new movie.
Last but not least Fury. So we know the cast is outstanding, you have everyone you could possibly want. You’ve got Brad Pitt, Logan Lerman, Micheal Pena, Shia Lebouf, and more. I have seen enough World War 2 movies to want to throw myself off a cliff so I was apprehensive when thinking about watching another. But then I thought it has so many fantastic actors maybe that will cover up the storyline. Let me tell you… I can’t describe how fantastic this movie was. It had the right amount of gore, emotional aspects, great acting, interesting storyline. It didn’t beat you over the head with the fact that this was about a war. This was a movie set during war times but with a purpose to portray a true story. I don’t want to give anything away but you will be left with feeling shocked and heart broken but also feel like you can accomplish anything. This wasn’t like any other war movie I have ever seen. I believe it is in the running for top ten movies of the year.
Overall the movies that have come out this year are outstanding. Sometime next week I will post my list for best movies of the year. Now go buy yourself some movie tickets!
